Esther Cammelot 1971, Amsterdam
In my work I’m exploring the relationship between identity, place and memory. To me, places are anchoring points of the memory and therefore of great importance for creating your identity. Places acquire meaning through personal experience and ensure that someone can ground somewhere or can feel at home. Isolation, change, passing through life stages and the sense of dislocation are themes that often recur in my projects. My way of working is intuitive, associative and inquisitive. The atmosphere is subdued and serene.
I’m part of the LAF Collective , a collective of 10 professional photographers, based in Amsterdam.
All photographers work in their own unique way and have their own distinctive style.
What unites them is the desire to reflect on each other’s work and to inspire one another to develop in new and unexpected ways.
Laf. collective is also part of Dutch Contemporary Photography
